HW LIST - STUFF THAT I'M GRADING FROM THE BREAK
If it's DeltaMath, you just need to have it done. If it's not, then you'll need to post a picture in the Class Notebook. This is NEW. When you login to Office 365, you should now find it in the things shared with you. It's called Geometry 3rd. You'll post it like a picture to a document, or like a document to an email. It's pretty intuitive. Label HW with the date! Post newer stuff at the top of the page, like I do this blog. Lastly, don't post junk. In other words, if it won't help your grade, then don't post it. I can't put it in the gradebook unless it's going to help!
Week of 3/16 - Tue(17) & Fri(20) - both of these are DeltaMath
Week of 3/22 - Wed(25) & Thu(26)
Week of 3/29 - Wed(1) & Thu(2) - This was all one thing, you just did it over two days
Week of 4/13 - Mon(13) & Tue(14) - Again all one thing that you took 2 days to do.
New** Week of 4/20 - Tue(21) & Wed(22)
New** Week of 4/27 - Tue(28) and Wed(29)
New** Week of 5/4 - Tue(5) & Wed(6)
New** Week of 5/11 - Mon(11) & Wed(13)
As of Monday 5/18 at 3pm
I think I've given everyone credit for all the work that you've turned in. I have to submit grades on Wednesday. Please let me know by then if you see errors!
Have a great summer everyone!! Be safe and Stay well!
Friday 5/15
Any work that you're planning to turn in must be submitted by midnight tonight.
The stuff labeled New** above is work that I have not graded yet. I'll be looking for it in the class notebook. If you submit anything else, then you need to make sure to notify me. I won't be looking for it, won't see it, and you won't get credit for it.
I'll shoot for having everything graded by Monday. If you're looking for a change in the gradebook and you don't see it by Monday night, then send me an email or text and let me know!
To those of you who have stuck with this and kept doing work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You can consider yourselves well prepared for future math courses... If you did not stick with it, and you feel like you missed the last 6weeks of Geometry, don't worry, I still gotchu. Feel free to come visit me next year when you need help in math! I'll be there for you :)
Stay safe, be well and enjoy your summer!!

Thursday, 5/14
This is IT! This is the last day of new stuff. I will post on the blog one more time tomorrow to discuss grades, what I'm taking up from this week, and tomorrow night's deadline, but that's it!
Finish everything up!
Here are the answers to half of yesterday's problems.
We are factoring special cases today:
Difference of 2 Squares - Here's a video
Perfect Square Trinomials - Here's a video
Here's a WS with 8 problems. The 1st 4 are Difference of 2 Squares. The Last 4 are Perfect Squares
---
Wednesday, 5/13
Just a reminder that everything you want to turn in must be submitted by Friday 5/15 at midnight. I can't take any work after that date! This includes stuff that's already been due (and graded), stuff that labeled **New above, and anything I take up from this week.
Solutions for the evens for yesterday
Today we are factoring when the lead coefficient is not a 1. You'll remember that this takes a little more work.
Here's a video (it will start about 5min in. I skipped the first part for you because you don't need it!)
Here's a WS to practice!
Tuesday 5/12
Here are solutions to the odds from yesterday.
One quick note before we get going today. Friday 5/15 is the deadline for all work to be submitted. This goes for the 3 lines above labeled with the New**, any of the older stuff, and anything I decide to take up from this week.
Today, we're doing more factoring. Specifically factoring when the lead coefficient is a 1.
Video to remind you. This video is super short, but it's good. You've done this before!
Worksheet to practice
Let me know if you've got questions about anything!
Monday 5/11
Ok. I got grades all caught up on Friday. I think that I have everything in there, but please communicate with me if you think I made a mistake. Many of you did DeltaMath assignments, but have nothing posted in the Class Notebook... If you have the work and just haven't posted yet, you can still do that, but you've got to let me know. I'm not going to just goo searching for it again without you notifying me. With the exception being the weeks of 4/20, 4/27 and 5/4. I haven't checked for those at all yet.
THIS is apparently our last week of new content. This was a surprise to me at the end last week. If I can figure out how to squeeze it in, then we may have one last quiz on Thu or Fri. I'm just not sure yet...
For today! We have completed Geometry, so now we'll take this last week to review a little Algebra I, so that you'll be more fit for Algebra 2!
Topic of the day is factoring a GCF out of an expression.

Worksheet
Friday, 5/8
Nothing new today!
I plan to have all HW and that quiz graded before the end of the day today (or end of the night tonight)
If you haven't taken the quiz yet, see below. I'll leave it open until about 12:30pm today.
Have a great weekend y'all!
---
Thursday, Quiz Day, 5/7
Today's quiz is really similar. Really, really similar to the practice quiz that I posted yesterday. So much so, that I'd suggest doing that before you do the test today. You can use your notes for help for sure, but you only get one try at it. No stress though! It can't hurt your grade, I can only put it in if it helps your grade!
Also, I'm going to need you to submit your scratch work. Post a picture of it in the Class Notebook once you're done. Label it as scratch work.
Here's the link to the test. It will only be available for a limited time. Good luck! Go kill it!
---
Wednesday, May 6
I've got the practice quiz for you! Check it out. It will give you feedback after each question if you miss it. It will also give you a total score out of 55 points. You can take it as many time as you like. Tomorrow's quiz will be almost identical to this.
Here are the solutions to yesterday's quiz review. Let me know if you have questions!
ALSO, I got the scores for the last quiz in the gradebook and some of the homework. I'll have the rest of the HW grades in by the end of the week.
---
Tuesday, May 5
I miss-spoke yesterday when I said test Thu. We (the other Geometry teachers and I) decided to not give "tests"
We're going to call it a quiz instead!
Here's the review for it.
Tomorrow, I'll post the solutions and another review deal that will show you exactly what to expect with the quiz.
Email or text me if you have questions!
Monday, May 4 (Happy Star Wars Day!)
We are finishing up probability!
We'll have a test this week on Thursday.
I'll have the studyguide available tomorrow.
For now, I've got more probability practice for you on DeltaMath. Login and look for the assignment titled Probability
Have a great day you guys!
---
Friday 5/1
Nothing new today because it's Friday!
If you didn't take yesterday's quiz, it's still available though!
---
Thursday 4/30
It's quiz day!!! Remember that you can only use a resource that I have provided. That is to say that you can definitely use your notes and examples that we've done. You cannot use a friend's brain (or a cousin, or a parent) as a resource :) And most importantly, this can only bring your grade UP! Good Luck!! You'll submit your answers on the form linked below.
If your student number ends in an even number use this quiz.
If your student number ends in an odd number use this quiz.
Do the quiz on your own paper, or print it out.
Your answers to the quiz will go here for me to grade!
Answers to yesterday's assignment are here
Wednesday 4/29
Answers for this assignment found here
Today you will be reviewing Venn Diagrams. I know many of you have experience with these so hopefully this assignment will be quick and easy!! Watch the video here and then complete your assignment found here. Only complete problems #1-12 on the first page.
Don't forget! Quiz tomorrow!
---
Tuesday 4/28
For today we are taking a step further and will discuss making your own two way table and then calculating probabilities from your two way table. The video can be found here and your assignment (ONLY DO PROBLEMS #1-3) is here.
Answers for yesterday's assignment are here
You are going to have a short quiz on Thursday. You may use any and all of your notes and previous assignment to help you. The quiz is going to be on two way tables. As all assignments, it's only going to count for you if you do it and if it helps your grade!
---
Monday 4/27
Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend!
Today I will introduce two way tables. The tables use the "and" and "or" concepts and have a bit of new topics as well. Please watch the videos found here and here, and then complete the assignment found here. You only need to complete problems 1-4, do NOT do the entire assignment.

I'm going to get that HW list up today!
Solutions for yesterday's assign are here.
Today we will be looking at mutually exclusive events. Please do not get caught up in the terminology. Focus on when to multiply (and) and when to add (or). This lesson will be about "or" and adding. Please watch the video found here and then complete the assignment found here.
---
Wednesday 4/22
I'm going to host a live Zoom on Friday if you need me. You can show up to ask questions about grades, math, life, whatever.
The time will be 10:00 to 10:30, but I'll go longer if you need me to.
Also, I promise that I'm getting a list together of what assignments that I plan to actually grade!
Solutions to yesterday's assignment can be found here.
Today we are taking the probability lesson from yesterday and adding a new twist. What happens when we don't replace an object? Please watch the video found here and then complete the assignment found here.
---
Tuesday 4/21
Monday was a review of basic probability.
Today we are going to look at compound probability.
Please watch the video found here and then complete the assignment found here.
The answers to yesterday's worksheet were at the end of the page. I'll post actual solutions later today with my work.
I'm going to schedule a weekly Zoom session. I'm trying to figure out the best time/day for it. Hope to decide by tomorrow.
Also, I'm putting together the list of what I'd like for you all to turn in from the Corona Break. I hope to have this together by tomorrow too!
---
Monday 4/20
Starting the last Unit of Geometry today and it's technically not really geometry!
It's probability. Today, we keep it kind of basic.
Watch this video first. It's a little long, sorry. You may not need the whole thing. It's mostly review.
Here's a link to the worksheet. I'm only expecting you to do half of these problems. EVENS ONLY!
Though feel free to do them all if you're having fun and have the time!
---
Friday 4/17
Nothing new for today!
On Monday, I'll let you know what assignments that I'll be looking for to grade, and how you'll turn that in.
Remember that your grade can only go up or stay the same from here.
Even if you're happy with your grade, I encourage you to keep working! You still need to be prepared for math classes next year!
Have a great Friday, and a great weekend!
Stay safe and healthy!

Mon 4/13
Grades Update:
We received some new information from Admin, and it sort of simplifies things for us. Here's the deal:
-We were told to put in all grades from before 3/13 to get the "March 13 Grade"
-I graded that quiz from 3/10 and put it in. If it caused your grade to fall more than a point OR to a lower letter grade, then I took it back out.
-SO, the grade you see in the gradebook is the March 13 Grade
-It cannot go lower than that, but it can go up.
-The other Geometry teachers and I are meeting tomorrow to decide how to grade work that's been due over the break.
-I can tell you this though - I will not put in any grade that causes your grade to drop. Only grades that cause it to go up!
NOW on to today's math!
We are sticking with more of the cumulative review stuff for now.
Here's the next part of the review
Just do Page 1 today, #s 1-10
Print it or just do it on paper!
If you need help with 1-4 click this link
If you need help with 5-10 clink this link
Update with grades info (THIS IS OLD AND IRRELEVENT NOW)
I'm going to make a column in the gradebook and put in your grade as of 3/13
Then I'm going to put in the quiz that we took before the break.
I plan to do this before spring break is over.
We'll see what this does to your grade, and you can compare to the column with the 3/13 grade.
Once that's done, you can make a decision on whether you want to stick with that grade or keep going. Unless someone tells me that I can't, then I'll let you choose between current 3/13 grade, what the 3/13 would've been if I was on top of grading, or keep putting grades in until May!
If you decide to keep going, I'll figure out how to include grades from all you've done during the break.
Don't stress until after spring break, but feel free to email/text me if you have questions!
Friday 4/3
Well, I still don't have a lot of answers.
You all (or your parents) should've gotten information yesterday from the county regarding grades. I wish it were as simple as that though.
If you didn't hear, basically you'll be given the option of taking your grade as of Mar 13, or continue working. In either case, your grade cannot go lower than what it was on that Friday. Only higher. You should read that email in its entirety, but here's a basic rundown of what we know for sure:
1. Any work that isn't already in from before 3/13 (tests, quizzes, homework) will count as grades put in AFTER the 13th.
2. If you did a retest before the break started, I can put that in as grades before the 13th
3. Anything we've done since 3/13 is obviously grades after the 13th
One big question you may have (that I've had too) is this, what about the rest of geometry? If I choose to keep my grade as of 3/13, do I just not learn the rest of geometry? Will I be prepared for my next math courses??
Fair question! Our administration is having a meeting today, and will then tell us how we are supposed to handle all of this. Sorry to put that in bold. I didn't mean to shout, I just wanted to make sure you saw that. I know you have questions, because I do too. I'll put this next statement in bold too, I want to help you (and your grade) as much as I possibly can. I just won't know how much leeway that I have until they tell me. I'll post this information once we have it. It will be later this afternoon/evening.
For today though!
I'd like for you to watch the first 10:30 of this video. (After that, he just starts trying to talk you into buying his book.)
Play with the money calculator here
Pick a billionaire from the list, and see how much he/she would have leftover after giving every American $100.
Answer my survey questions here.
Thursday, 4/2
Let me try to answer a couple questions before we start.
Lots of you have asked about grades, and there's been one simple answer. I can't touch the gradebook until we return.
That will likely change now that face-to-face school has been cancelled for the rest of the semester. I don't know how it will change, but we'll let you know when we're told. We'll probably hear something today.
The other question is about how you'll go about turning in work that's been on paper. I don't have an answer to this yet either, but I will say that anything needing to be "printed" can just go on notebook paper. That's the way I've been doing it!
For now, business as usual (whatever that means!)
Today, we are just doing the 2nd page of yesterday's review of unit 1.
Here are the videos to help if you need them!
17-19
20-22
I don't think you'll need the help for the last few :)
Wednesday 4/1
For the rest of this week, we're going to be doing a little cumulative review stuff. Like looking back at the beginning.
I know some of you don't have printers at home. That's not a big problem. You can just do the work on paper and turn it in that way when we return. I know it's not ideal. Sorry!
Posting review stuff below, but check out this video.
This is a review of our very first unit. Remember that?
This is a lot to do on this, so let's do the first page today, and the second page tomorrow!
Help videos for each set of problems if you need them:
1-4
5-10
11-13
14-16
The rest tomorrow
Sorry about the Rickroll! But it's April Fools and I had to do something!!
Tuesday 3/31
My solutions are below, but a bit of a mess!
Check them against yours
Let me know if you have questions. For real, ask questions please!
We won't do anything else new today!
First 3 problems done the way we discussed
First 3 pages (with problems 2 & 3 done differently)
Numbers 10-14
Numbers 15-17
Number 18
Finally, if you didn't see my Miss You Monday post yesterday, then you should check it out.
Monday 3/30 (This is the last Monday before Spring Break!)
Little little late with this. It's Miss You Monday, and here you go. Secret's out, I'm a hippy.
So! Some good news!
We are done doing new stuff on the xy plane! We have pretty much one unit of geometry left, plus some little things here and there to talk about. Today would be a review day and tomorrow would be a test... Current plan: we won't be taking any tests until we return.
In any case, we are just doing the review today, then tomorrow we'll change gears and do something else.
Here's the Review. Skip problems 6 and 13.
Let me know if you have questions! I'll post my solutions to this tomorrow.
Miss you guys!
----
Friday 3/27
Hey folks, I'm going a little of course today! I figure you may need a break from Algebra/Geometry :)
I've got a video for you to watch and a survey to answer.
3 questions on the survey.
What's your name?
Tell me something about the video.
Tell me something you've struggled with over the break.
Have a great Friday! Have a great weekend! Stay well!!
---
Thursday 3/26
The 2 problems you asked for from Tue were 1 & 2.
Here they are! One & Two
Some solutions from yesterday's work
Today, we have an algebra mess to get into. There are 2 forms that the equation of a circle might be in.
Standard Form (which is what you dealt with yesterday)
General Form (which is good for nothing)
When you get an equation of a circle in general form, the first thing we do is convert to standard form. That's what we're doing today.
This is a little complicated! You may want to watch the video twice.
Video (I skipped the first 2min or so, because you won't run into that)
If you want to watch a quick video on how to factor, here you go.
Assignment is on DeltaMath
The first problem is just the stuff you were doing yesterday.
The rest is this new stuff. To find the center and radius, you MUST change the equation to standard form.
Let me know if you have questions!
---
Wednesday 3/25
For yesterday's HW, please click and answer the survey. Which 2 problems to you most want to see me workout?
Today, we're doing something totally new! Still using the xy-plane, but totally different!
We are learning to graph circles.
Here's a really good explanation in this video
In the end, you won't need to be able to explain how it works, so don't get too overwhelmed.
Here's a second video that may be a little simpler.
Watch the whole thing for another explanation of why it works, skip to 5:00 to see how simple it really can be.
At this point, go ahead and try numbers 1-4 on this WS.
For number 5, you need 2 things to write the equation: center and radius.
You have the center, but you have to figure out the radius. Do this with the distance formula. Find the distance between those 2 points.
For number 6, watch this video
Let me know if you have questions!!
---
Tuesday 3/24
Remember I'm only available by text this morning. I'll be back on via email later today!
Today we'll be finding perimeter and area on the xy-plane. You will have to use the distance formula to find certain lengths, but I think today's material is far easier than the last few days!
To find perimeter, you'll just need to find the length of each side, then add them up.
To find area, you'll need the length of a base, and the length of a height. Use the appropriate formula to find area then.
Here's the worksheet to practice.
---
Monday again! 3/23
I've had a few of you emailing/texting me questions. I love this! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. It gives me a chance to interact with you. I really do miss you guys!
If you haven't completed the work from Thu, please keep working on it!
More of the same stuff today. On that first worksheet (or worksheets). It guided you through finding more information that was needed. You don't have to do all that every time! On the WS today, the first page is teacher-guided examples. I'm posting pictures of my work on those. You just need to do the 2nd page (4 problems).
Today's Worksheet
Guided Examples One and Two
Heads up: I'll probably post tomorrow's stuff later today/tonight. Tomorrow morning, I've got to drive to Athens to move my kiddo out of the dorm. Should still be available by text though!
---
For Friday, 3/20 (TGIF!!)
As promised, I'm not posting any new topics to learn today, but there is a new assignment.
My work for the first problem on yesterday's assignment.
It's a lot of work, I know. That's why I'm giving you a few days on it... Maybe more time on Monday too.
Let me know if you have questions! Reach out by email or text!
Yesterday, I posted that I was going to give you a second assignment of the same stuff. Instead, I'm going to give you a review of parallelorgrm properties. It's on Deltamath. If you haven't been there yet, then check Tuesday's post below.
Look for the assignment titled - Parallelogram Properties (it has 3 parts)
It shouldn't take long and you can spend more time on that too-long worksheet from yesterday.
---
For Thursday, 3/19
Today we start using the algebra we've reviewed and apply it to geometry!
Essentially, this is what's going to happen. You'll be given 4 points on the xy-plane. Those 4 points should make some sort of a quadrilateral.
You'll use the formulas to verify some properties and show that the quadrilateral is actually a parallelogram, or square, or rhombus, etc.
Here's a quick review of the properties of parallelograms
Here's a review of the 3 special parallelograms
Here are 3 videos. There are several ways to do this. The worksheet sort of guides you through this, and you may be better off just jumping in.
Video 1 - Sorry about the music
Video 2 - another method
Video 3 - Proving squares, rectangles, rombi
Worksheet to practice - This is a lot. We will spend a couple days on this, so you don't need to finish it all today. I'll be posting another similar(but shorter) WS tomorrow.
Even solutions to yesterday's assignment.
For Wednesday, 3/18
Some review of Algebra I. We need to talk about how to write equations of lines. You definitely learned this in Algebra I, so you may feel like you can skip the videos and jump straight to the assignment. Videos are here if you need them though!
Writing an equation from a graph
Writing an equation from a point and a slope
Writing an equation from 2 points
Click here for the WS. If you don't have a printer, you can just do it on your own paper.

For Tuesday 3/17 Happy St Patrick's Day!
First, some answers for yesterday. I was asked a lot of times about 10-14... I really thought those were all density problems. I'll look more closely next time. Here's some explanation for those problems though!
Number 10
Number 11
Number 12
Number 13 & 14
New Stuff for today!
We are about to begin doing geometry on the xy-plane. There are 3 formulas that you need to be familiar with to do this.
Here's a video explaining each:
Distance Formula
Midpoint Formula
Slope Formula (more explanation of slope if you need it)
Assignment today is via Deltamath, hopefully it won't take too long!
When you get there, you'll have to set up an account using an email and my class code 325657.
When you get logged in, there should be just one assignment available to you, Coordinate Geometry Formulas with 4 parts. You'll have to simplify radicals on the distance formlula parts. Here's a video on how to Simplify Radicals.
If you've never used Delta Math, you'll have to get 3 problems correct in each section before moving on. Except the 2nd section, you've only got to get one correct there before moving on.
----
Okay! For Monday, only a little new material
Density... I know it's a science topic, but it's an application of volume. Watch this video
Or maybe this one. It's way shorter and easier to follow.
Do this assignment, the first page is just volume, the second page is density.
If you were absent Friday, here's the WS that was assigned.
Below the line was material from before corona-break

Remember drop in Zoom session tomorrow at 10:00 if you have questions about anything!

Video help for the last 2 problems
